People whose minds are filled with such vastness and depth that I could not even begin to fathom— I love them. There is a desire within me to constantly try to figure them out somehow; maybe through words, actions, something, somehow. It probably is the enigmatic air that surrounds them that gets…
Thursday, got my hair done for the first time since April. Yay for red hair again!
After that, picked up Bree and went to Old Lyme to our beach house that my grandma rents for the whole month of August.
Now, let me explain… the beach house isn’t some mansion. It’s a little house less than a minute from the beach, probably built in the 80’s. It’s brown and number 69 on Old Colony road, and its made of the same plywood and there’s only one room with an airconditioner. But that little house has so much character and it’s really separate from civilization.
The worst part: no cellphone service. Texts could be sent but no calls could be made, and half the time you’d have to resend the texts. You will never be so grateful for service until you leave a place like this. But you know what? It’s actually nice to have a break and take a step back to see how much you don’t need the internet and how useless it really becomes.
Not being in constant contact with the boyfriends was hard, but it was okay to be honest. I don’t mind taking a break.
Thursday night, we grilled and then walked two streets over to the icecream store and carrousel. My little brother Dylan is about the cutest thing ever to exist, and Bree and I got some icecream and took him and my cousin John on the carrousel. We went back to the house and sat on my bed listening to music and discussing topics of every kind until about 2:30. Did I mention the exorcist woman that lives in the mirrors?
Friday we spent at the beach until 1.. then we came back and crashed on the bed for about 3 hours for some reason. Then we went back to the beach… repeat. Jersey shore kids, our cute little friend, failed summer work, icecream, Scrabble, awesome pizza, exorcist woman.
Saturday was the best beach day.. we spent even longer at the beach because it was so beautiful, especially in the morning. We moved our stuff to the air conditioned room and went down to the beach. Our feet got burnt to crisps, and someone was playing obnoxious white trash rock/bad rap from their boat, but the (bad) band was good. The jersey shores shut up by then.
The country fair was adorable… the land of adorable baby animals, $15 bunnies, $1 feather earrings, plates full of onion rings, massive horses, hitching contests, cheese cake on a stick, and naturally beautiful people. Everyone knew eachother… we seemed to be the only outsiders. I never feel so urban, but I did in that little Hamburg fair. It was a great experience. Getting eaten alive by bugs wasn’t fun at the icecream shop, but at least it was good.
Saturday night, more talking again… I think we got a little more psychotic every night. Trashing people on Facebook, special cake plans.. seems very normal to us but outsiders would probably recommend help..
Sunday, we packed everything in my daddy’s truck and hauled out. We stopped at a diner on the way and everyone ate breakfast except me… I like french fries.
Basically, it was such a nice, down-to-earth weekend with my best friend in the whole world. I was so glad to have gone and spent it with my family.
